Responsible Gambling Malaysia
Stay in control: gambling should stay entertainment
Know the warning signs, use the tools and get support if you need it.
In short
- Gambling should be entertainment, not a source of financial or emotional harm.
- Only play with money you can afford to lose.
- If two or more warning signs feel familiar, pause and get support.
- Platforms offer limits and self-exclusion. Ask support how to turn them on.
Gamble Only Where It Is Lawful
Rules on online gambling are different from place to place. Before you register, check that online gaming is lawful where you live, and read each platform's own terms and responsible gaming policy. See our Terms and Conditions for more.
Signs Your Gambling May Be Becoming a Problem
Ask yourself honestly whether any of these apply to you:
- Lying to or hiding from family about how much you gamble or lose.
- Chasing losses by depositing more than you planned.
- Borrowing money, selling items or using money meant for essentials to gamble.
- Arguing with family or friends about your gambling.
- Feeling anxious, stressed or unable to stop even though you want to.
- Spending more time planning or thinking about gambling than you meant to.
If two or more of these feel familiar, it is worth pausing and using the tools and support below before you continue.
Tools to Stay in Control
We don't operate the platforms we review, so these tools are managed by each platform. Most established platforms offer some version of them. Ask support how to turn them on for your account.
-
Deposit limits
Set a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit.
-
Time limits and reality checks
Reminders that pop up after a set amount of play time.
-
Self-exclusion
Lock yourself out of an account, for a while or permanently.
-
Loss limits
Cap how much you can lose in a set period before play is paused.
If You Need to Stop
If gambling is no longer enjoyable or feels hard to control, stop, take a break and talk to someone you trust or a qualified service. You can also ask the platform to set account limits or close your account. For general background, see this overview of problem gambling.
